Before I give you my thoughts on the cream, here's a little background on BB Creams if you're not familiar with the product.
BB cream, also known as Blemish Balm is a cosmetic item sold mainly in East and Southeast Asia. It was originally formulated in Germany by dermatologist Dr. Christine Shrammek, the cream was initially used to protect skin after laser procedures and surgery, while also providing light coverage.
Due to its all-in-one properties the cream became a hit in Asia, especially in South Korea, where BB Creams make up 13% of the cosmetics market. This cream has been named "the secret of Korean actresses" and is heavily endorsed by Korean celebrities.
BB creams became popular in the Western markets around 2011. The creams have been tailored for Western markets so the formulation differs from the creams sold in Asia. For example, whitening properties are a main selling point of BB Creams in Asia and is not included in the formulation for some brands in North America.
So now that you have that tidbit of information about BB Creams..here are my thoughts...
Details about product:
8-in-1 Skin Perfector
- Blurs imperfections
- Brightens
- Evens skin tone
- Smoothes
- Hydrates
- Enhances
- Protects with SPF 30
- 0% oils and heavy ingredients
Pros: Didn't cause breakouts
Very little coverage, but just enough
Reduction in dark spots
Skin seemed brighter
Cons: Skin becomes oily after short period of time
I have the cream in Deep Sheer Tint. I use it just about everyday. I apply it with a cosmetic wedge or my fingertips. It goes on smooth, very light. If you're looking for full coverage, this is not the product for you. There is little to no coverage. This would be great for someone who doesn't wear a lot of makeup.
The only con to this product is that it makes my skin extra oily and I'm constantly having to blot it. This could be due to two things: The fact that I already have oily skin or that it's 1000 degrees outside.. not sure.. I may see better results during the Fall/Winter months.
There are other companies that carry the product as well, Garnier, Dr. Jart, Dior, Clinique, Estee Lauder, just to name a few. I may try Garnier so I can compare the two.
If you have used a BB Cream, let me know your thoughts...good experience or horror story?
